FANNY KEMBLE 1809-1893

Fanny Kemble was a passionate writer who shared her imaginative and descriptive experience of her first ride on a locomotive. The steam locomotive was created in 1830, in England. This was the first time anything had ever been created and compared to the speed of a horse. She gave a dreamy and fairytale caption to her experience to whirled you in and had you in a daze of the smoothness, speed, and silence of this magical train ride. She also allowed the reader to enjoy the acceptance of the change that had taken place and the the changes that were to come.

Keekwak,

Good focus in this posting--I am glad to see you limiting your attention to a particular author (Kemble). You make some good observations about her reaction to the railroad. You rely on paraphrase and summary, though, rather than quoting any specific statement and analyzing it. Don't put the readings in your own words, but dig deeper and analyze the author's words. I would like to see you discuss why the author might have chosen those words, and what difference they make in understanding the author's idea.

Could you perhaps quote some of the lines from Kemble's writings. What parts of the writing stood out to you. Still, good focus on mood of the writing.

I like your summary of the work. But I ask myself this question so I figured I would ask you. How do you think you would feel riding a locomotive for the first time? What sensations would you compare it to?
